Pneumonia—Prevention is better than cure!
Are you suffering from the effects of pneumonia in your calves this winter? If so then we may be able to help! Come and join us on Thursday 23rd February, 7.30pm at the Surgery in South Molton
The Healthy Livestock programme aims to engage farmers in the South West with Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) prevention and control. It is important to control and eliminate disease in infected herds but also very important to protect healthy herds and prevent infection occurring.
We will be holding a group meeting to give an overview of BRD diseases, including risks, causes, prevention, control, and treatment. We will also explain how to obtain funding through the Healthy Livestock project and discuss surveillance, risk management and control options. The Healthy Livestock project offers 70% funding towards on farm investigation with the aim being to create a control plan for BRD, discuss and implement environmental changes and create an effective vaccination plan if required. There is also some funding available for testing to diagnose which pathogens are on farm.
