SWHLI LAMENESS MEETING 6TH JULY 2011

SWHLI Lameness Meeting — 6th July 2011

 

We can now confirm that the lameness meeting will take place on Wednesday 6th July 2011 at North Lee Farm, North Molton, by kind permission of Richard Thomas and family.  The day will start at around 10:30 AM and will finish at around 3:00 PM with lunch time refreshments provided.  This meeting comes under the South West Healthy Livestock Initiative lameness strand which provides 70% funding towards locomotion scoring, on farm lameness reviews and practical foot trimming and lameness workshops. 

 

Steve Paul, who is a Dutch 5 stage foot trimming assessor, will be joining us to give a demonstration of the 5 stage foot trimming method and help with a practical foot trimming session. We will also discuss causes of common lameness conditions and routine prevention.

 

We will have a limited supply of hoof knives for use on the day however it is a good idea to have your own for use at home.  If you already have your own knives please bring them with you on the day. If not and you would like to purchase some in advance to use on the day we can supply high quality foot knives with Hauptner blades (not available in Mole Valley) at £22.27 each (right and left handed) but please order them in advance so we can ensure they reach us before the course.
